a) 5-cone line
g) Transition

a) 5-cone line

5 cones in a tight line, dribble with one hand around each cone and back, do 3 sets with each hand.

b) Zig-zag in the lane

Two cones in the lane, start in one corner, zig-zag dribble out, around and back using the two cones and the lane lines, dribble back to the start. Progressions

- crossover
- between the legs
- behind the back
- spin dribble
- repeat from the other corner.
 
(Variations)
 
- another player starts before 1 finishes
- cones in the middle of the floor, attack both baskets.

c) Zig-zag to halfcourt

Use 4 cones to halfcourt, repeat coming back, or dribble around to the start (shown), or speed dribble back up the sideline, progressions

- crossover
- between the legs
- behind the back
- spin dribble.

d) Diamond series

Four cones, always dribble to the middle cone (cone 1).

Start under the basket dribbling with the right hand, make a crossover at cone 1, cone 2, cone 1, cone 3, cone 1, cone 4, cone 1, finish with the left hand. There is one dribble between each single (or combo) move.

Repeat dribbling out with the left hand, with crossovers at cones 1-4-1-3-1-2-1, finish with the right-hand.

Progressions

- between the legs
- behind the back
- cross, cross, between
- cross, between, behind.

e) Point-guard series

Three cones, make any move at each cone (freelance), finish at the rim.

Progressions

- stepback move and shoot at the last cone
- stepback move, attack the basket.
 
(Variations)
 
- pull-ups
- shoot behind the last cone
- spin and shoot
- drag pullback
- drag pullback, drop move (hip swivel), attack
- stop separation
- hesi pull-ups (skip, lift)
- use only last two cones.

Work both sides (mirror the cones).

DJ Sackmann - Three-cone drills
- start with one change move at each of the first two cones into a hop pull-up at the last cone
- after four makes, go to 3-5-7 moves
- stepbacks (mid-range or 3s).

f) Spin moves

4 cones, make one quick move at each of the first two cones (e.g. between the legs), take 1-2 dribbles, make a spin pullback at the last cone, finish at the rim or on the other side. Work both sides.

Progression - 5 cones, make a cross-between-behind triple move at each of the top two cones, a drop crossover at the middle cone (switch hands), spin pullback at the last cone.

(Variation - after the first triple move, attack the middle cone)

g) Transition

One cone on one side, start with 5 right-hand pound dribbles then a scissors dribble (drop the inside foot back, attack with a crossover-step drive), make an inside-out move and finish with a power layup.

Progressions

- between the legs (then throw the ball back to the other hand, your defender is behind you, cut him off)
- behind the back (wrap).

Three cones on the other side, start from the baseline, 5 dribbles, scissors dribble, repeat the same move 3 times (inside-out first time through), make a quick underhand finish off one leg, continue.
