Scrimmage
3s or wide-open layups

American Basketball Quarterly, 2006Q1

Three or more teams of 3 or 4 players. The only way to score is a 3-point shot or uncontested layup, and every pass must be caught outside the 3-point line. Attackers start outside the 3-point arc, defenders on the baseline, they close out on a pass from coach to an attacker. Attackers make-it, take-it against new defenders, or go off on a stop. Play for 5 minutes or to X points, with 2- and 3-point baskets.

(Variations)

- passes do not have to be caught outside the 3-point line.
- more reward for attacking the basket, e.g., 1 point for any made basket
- score on a layup or a shot off a kick-out pass.
