Raptors warm-up

The Raptors use this drill to get loose while emphasizing a defensive theme - closeouts. In the NBA, 90% of your problems start with bad closeouts.

Players spread out along the baseline, facing forward.

a) Close out

On "go", sprint halfway to the first line then break down, choppy steps, close out with two hands up, weight back.

Repeat on "go" three more times fullcourt.

b) Contest

Coming back, sprint then choppy steps, jump with the left hand up to challenge a (right-hand) shot.

Repeat three times to the starting baseline.

c) Slide

Going away, close out then get low, slide twice to the right, twice to the left (shown for 3).

Repeat three times.

d) Slide & contest

Coming back, close out, slide twice right, twice left, jump to challenge a shot with the left hand.

Repeat three times.up
