Shooting Kick-out close-out

| 1 Based on Dave Smart
a)
1 drives baseline, makes a push pass to 2 drifting baseline, and closes out to contest the shot (gets a hand up near the shot release, doesn't leave his feet until the shooter does). Challenge the shot even if late. 2 rebounds, 1 and 2 switch lines.
Options
- challenge the shot by going by the shooter on the shot side with the goal of getting a piece of the ball, and not fouling - bounce pass - 2 moves out to a 45 degree angle on the weakside wing for an overhead pass
Variation - have only one line, with balls, 1 is the next shooter, see Shooting - 3-on-0 kick-out. |

| 2 b)
1 drives middle and passes to 2 widening the drive.
Progression - 1 can drive middle or baseline, 2 spaces accordingly. Marg Jones - have one line of players on the weakside wing, another in the corner, and a help defender in the lane, alternate baseline drives (pass to the corner) and middle drives (pass to the wing), the passer closes out and becomes the help next defender. Ian MacKinnon - 1 makes a primary move (baseline or middle), then a secondary move, passes to the player on the weakside wing or the player in the corner, and replaces that player.
|

| 3 c)
1 drives baseline, jump stops, pivots, passes back to 2 who has filled behind ("dotted the i") at the wing, closes out.
Progression - 1 drives middle, 2 fills behind. |

| 4 e)
2 drives baseline and jump stops, 5 "i cuts" up the lane and gets a pass, 2 closes out (or flares to the corner for a return pass).
Progression - 2 drives middle, 5 moves to the short corner.
|

| 5 f)
1 drives from the top, kicks to 3 (in the line of sight) with the outside hand.
Variation - 3 curls behind 1 (his defender helps across).
See Shooting - Dribble-drive.
