Pressing
George Mason anticipation

a) 2 on 2

X1 denies 1, tries to keep him from catching the inbounds pass. If 1 catches, X1 must turn him 3 times in the backcourt. X4 goes with 4, but if 1 starts coming at high speed, X4 will turn and fake at 1 but not trap (this is the basic fullcourt man defence). If 1 picks up his dribble, X1 yells "dead, dead, dead" and is all over him. Go fullcourt.

b) 4 on 5 (man pressure)

Coach inbounds. Defenders X1, X2, X3 and X5 are all trying to deflect or steal the inbounds pass. X3 and X5 must anticipate long passes.

c) 4 on 5 (1-2-1-1)

Inbounds pass against the 1-2-1-1 zone.

Options

- attackers use a 1-4 pressure set
- replace coach with 4.

Try to trap in the short corner, steal the ball and score. Otherwise set up the inbounds play again (one trap and done).

X1 and X2 look to pick a sideline or reversal pass (everyone moves in the direction of the ball).
